Who We Are

About Us

How We Began:

Better Homes for North Carolina, Inc. was formed in April 1992. We were established by a small local group of individuals concerned with a growing population of low to
moderate income individuals and families in need of safe, decent, affordable housing.
Since formation, Better Homes for North Carolina has invested in 276 units across North Carolina. We also partnered in construction of 136 units in Siler City and Fuquay Varina. Our first acquisition rehab was 56 units in Clayton, NC. The property was purchased and renovated in 1995. During 1996 we purchased and renovated a property in Havelock, NC consisting of 60 units. In 1998 we purchased and renovated a smaller 24 unit property in Fairmont, NC.

What We Do:

We purchase existing apartment communities in need of repairs and renovations. We obtain equity investors and financing for the renovations. We oversee operations of those properties. While a property management company over sees day-to-day operations, any major decisions or capital improvements are presented to the board of directors for approval. All properties offer either rental assistance from Rural Development or rent restricted IRS Section 42 housing. All units are targeted to low to moderate-income persons and families.
